Alice Ruth Haney, 92, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Elizabeth Scott Community.
She was born on June 21, 1921, in Punxsutawney, to George and Alice (Huff) Bowersox.
Ruth was the past Madam President of the Maumee Eagles Auxiliary Lodge
2562, a member of the Maumee American Legion Post 320, a member of the Punxsutawney Elks Lodge 301 and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Eugene Smith, 77, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013.
He was born on Christmas Day, 1935, a son of Clarence and Marion Patrick Smith of Punxsutawney.
Eugene was a 20-year U.S. Army veteran, a life member of the V.F.W., and he was retired from TVA at Sequoya.
He was first married to Joyce Davis, of Soddy-Daisy, the mother of their children.
He later married Eulene Mayberry, also of Soddy-Daisy.

Kenneth Lee Anderson, Sr., 62, of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Punxsutawney, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, in Norfolk, Va.
He was born Jan. 17, 1951, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late William and Lucille (Depp) Anderson.
He was an automobile mechanic and worked for many years at Midas Muffler in Norfolk, Va.
Byron E. Dinger, 96, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.
Mr. Dinger was born March 7, 1917, in Ringgold, the son of the late Ervin E. and Alberta (Shirey) Dinger.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bertha Mae Dinger, on July 16, 2012.
He was a member of the Scotland Avenue Church of God. He and his wife helped to raise many foster children.
Robert Ellenberger, 63, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 11, 1950, in Waynesburg, a son of Percy and Betty Ann (Hathaway) Ellenberger.
He was a member of the Albion United Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, family and his dog
He was a former member of the IUP Board, Punxsutawney Hospital Board and the Rotary.
He was the manager of the First Commonwealth Bank in Punxsutawney and retired from there in 2006.
Alfred P. âAlâ Barletta, 85, formerly of Soldier, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, in South Carolina, at his daughterâs house where he made his home, after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 28, 1928, in Soldier, the son of Dominic and Caroline (Longo) Barletta.
He married Lois (Deemer) Barletta, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Barletta was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He enjoyed crossword and Sudoku puzzles and baking.
Kenneth K. Cielo, 78, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, after a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Mr. Cielo was born on May 1, 1935, in Vandergrift, Pa., the son of the late Hazel M. Cielo and Kelly R. Cielo.
Ken attended Brookville and Punxsutawney high schools.
He joined the Navy after graduation and served four years as lead trumpet player for the Navy band.
Ken worked at the family-owned car sales business, Kelly Cielo Ford, during the â60s and â70s, along with playing with various musical groups.
Sylvia Frances Murray, 92, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
She was born July 19, 1921, in Reynoldsville, the daughter of the late Glenn and Sarah (Rea) Uplinger.
She was married to George Murray, who preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Punxsutawney.
She is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Reed and husband Don of New Bethlehem, Pa., Carol Smith and husband Paul of Illinois, and Edith Bergbigler and husband Don of Fenelton, Pa.; and by one sister, Katherine Cramer of Ohio.
Arnold L. Dunmire, 82, of Young Township, died on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Dunmire was born on April 7, 1931, at home, in Rossiter, Indiana County, the second of four sons of Carlton C. Dunmire and Laura A. (Roush) Dunmire.
He spent most of his childhood and youth on the family farm in Banks Township, Indiana County.
Ina Jean Getty, 92, of Marion Center, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Getty was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Marion Center, the daughter of the late Cora (Rodgers) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband John "Jack" Getty.
Mrs. Getty was a life member of the Presbyterian Church of Marion.
Her hobbies were quilting, gardening and flowers.
