Mary Ruth Reitz, 81

Mary Ruth Reitz, 81, of Laurelbrooke Landing, passed away at Brookville Hospital on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012.

She was born May 31, 1931, at Cloverdale Farm in Stanton, Pa., the youngest child of the late Harry Webster and Jessie Ruth (Brosius) Reitz. 

She never married.

After graduating from Brookville High School and Grove City College with an associate degree, Mary Ruth worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at Brookville Equipment; as a secretary to Milton Eisenhower, president of Penn State; and as a secretary for James Hysong, superintendent of Brookville Area Joint Schools.

Raymond “Junior” Shank, Jr., 76

Raymond “Junior” Shank, Jr., 76, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at home.

He was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Indiana County, a son of the late Charles and Edna Mae (Wright) Shank.

Mary Katharyn “Kate” Patterson has been his life partner for the past 42 years.

Mr. Shank worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and as a coal miner.

He was a member of the American Legion in Rossiter and Punxsutawney, the Punxsutawney Eagles and St. Joe’s Club in DeLancey.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved his dog, Brownie.
