Horace M. Steele, 91

Horace M. Steele, 91, of Marion Center, went to be with the Lord on Friday Sept. 21, 2012, while surrounded by his family.

He was born in 1921 to Lester D. and Mary (Hopkins) Steele in Rayne Township, Indiana County.

Horace was a much-loved member of the Gilgal Presbyterian Church in Marion Center, where he taught Sunday School, served as a Trustee, an Elder and Clerk of Session.

He was a member of Gilgal Cemetery Association, member and treasurer of Mahoning Cemetery Association, Rochester Mills Rod and Gun Club and Rochester Mills International Order of Odd Fellows Association.

Raymond A. Smochek, 84, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Hillsdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hillsdale, Pa.

He was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Mahaffey, a son of the late Frank and Rose (Mrozek) Smochek.

On Oct. 3, 1949, he married Anna (Gresock) Smochek, who survives, and they were married for 62 years.

He was the last remaining member of his family.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
