Barry Stephen Kern, 60

Barry Stephen Kern, 60, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1952, in Quincy, Mass., a son of Robert L. and Sara A. (Jackson) Kern. They survive and reside in Cordova, Tenn.

He met his wife-to-be, Karen Denise Lockard, when she was only 16 years old; they later married on March 31, 1973, and would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2013. She survives.

Mr. Kern worked at Beverage Air in Brookville for 36 years.

Anna Ruth Young, 88, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at home.

She was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Bellwood, a daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Cole) Waltman.

She married Eugene Mercer, who preceded her in death on June 1, 1974.

She became the wife of Joe J. Young, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2002.

Anna enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Bingo and crocheting, and she had previously enjoyed fishing with her husband.

Anna Ruth Young, 88, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at home.
