RoseAnn Sloniger, 72, Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. 

She was born April 9, 1940, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late James Salvaggio and Angelina (Peratto) Salvaggio.

Dec. 4, 1958, she married Thomas L. Sloniger, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sloniger was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Church.

She loved gardening, shopping trips and camping at Allegheny National Forest for family reunions, but most of all, she loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Wanda M. DeLancey, 49

Wanda M. DeLancey, 49, DuBois, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Aug. 21, 1962, in DuBois, a daughter of Daniel A. and Ida (Williams) Zurenda, who survive, of Punxsutawney.

May 24, 1993, she married Gordon L. DeLancey, who survives.

Mrs. DeLancey worked at ELCAM in DuBois for the past 11 years.

She loved to garden and belonged to the Garden Club of America.

Melanie Mae Brooks Bartley, 54

Melanie Mae Brooks Bartley, 54, Brookville, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at home.

She was born April 20, 1958, in Meadville, a daughter of the late Howard G. and Marion (Gordon) Brooks.

May 28, 1994, in Cooksburg, she married Frank E. Bartley, who survives.

Mrs. Bartley was a 1976 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and attended DuBois Business College, where she received an associate's degree in medical transcription.

She retired from Brookville Hospital after 33 years of service.

Joseph Gresock Jr., 90

July 19, 2012

Joseph Gresock Jr., 90, of Tonawanda, N.Y., passed away at home July 12, 2012.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Cemetery, near DeLancey, with Fr. Ronald Larko, nephew of Mr. Gresock, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society or Erie County (N.Y.) Hospice.

Judith M. Lott, 71

Judith M. Lott, 71, Alexandria, Va., died July 7, 2012, in West Chester, Ohio.

She was born July 20, 1940, in Henderson Township, a daughter of the late Bernard and Rachel (Pifer) Lott.

Miss Lott lived in the Washington, D.C., area the majority of her adult life and was employed at various locations with the federal government from 1958 until retiring in 1995 as a budget analyst with the Federal Railroad Administration, Department of Transportation.

Joseph Gresock Jr., 90

July 17, 2012

Joseph Gresock Jr., 90, of Tonawanda, N.Y., passed away at home Thursday, July 12, 2012.

He was born June 3, 1922, in DeLancey, a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Mary (Kromaus) Gresock.

Being one of eight children, Mr. Gresock, as a young man, stayed behind and worked on the family farm for a number of years while his brothers were serving in the military.

He also worked for a short while for the state and in a local coal mine.

Bertha Mae Dinger, 90

Bertha Mae Dinger, 90, Punxsutawney, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.

She was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Ellwood and Grace Irene (Geist) Yount.

She was married to her husband of 71 years, Byron E. Dinger, who survives.

Mrs. Dinger was a member of the Scotland Avenue Church of God, where she served as the church organist and pianist.

She and her husband had helped to raise foster children, and she liked to cook and bake.

Dorothy Miller, 93

Dorothy Miller, 93, Punxsutawney, went home to her Lord Monday, July 16, 2012, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

She was born June 4, 1919, in Madera, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Agnes E. (Brudnock) Kowalcyk.

She was married to Jesse W. Miller, who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 2006.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Church of God, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family. She had a strong dedication to her Lord.

Betty Louise Reesman, 75

July 16, 2012

Betty Louise Reesman, 75, Dayton, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 9, 1937, in Kittanning, Armstrong County, the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Mae (Zellefrow) Anthony.

Mrs. Reesman lived in the area most of her life and devoted her life to caring for her family.

She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed dirt track racing and watching NASCAR.

In her spare time Mrs. Reesman liked talking on her CB radio, bowling and playing bingo with her friends.

Max E. Pifer Sr., 90

July 15, 2012

Max E. Pifer Sr., 90, Big Run, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 15, 1922, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County, a son of the late Harry Franklin and Cora Marie (Davis) Pifer.

Sept. 20, 1946, he married the former Avanell Clouser, who survives.

Mr. Pifer was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Tec 4, during World War II in the 84th Infantry Division. He received a Bronze Star and was in the Battle of the Bulge and various other campaigns in the European Theater.

He was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ.
