Peter Gilbert Himes, 78

Peter Gilbert Himes, 78, Huntingdon, Oneida Township, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Huntingdon Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 7, 1933, in Ringgold, a son of the late Paul and Virginia (Smith) Himes.

April 19, 1957, he married Marilyn L. Yeaney, who survives, at the Ringgold United Methodist Church with Pastor Gorman officiating.

Mr. Himes graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1952.

Donald Lee Estep, 83

Wednesday, April 4, 2012, Donald Lee Estep, 83, passed from this life to more life, joining his beloved Nora Lee and leaving behind a strong, extended family who will miss him very much.

He was born May 28, 1928, in the small mining community of Wolfpit, Ky., one of four children to the late Roy C. and Ola A. (Stinnette) Estep.

He spent his youth living throughout the Southern states until, as a teenager, he found his heart in western Pennsylvania. 

Carl Eugene Himes, 87

Carl Eugene Himes, 87, Englewood, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012.

He was the son of the late Harry and Reba (Harriger) Himes.

For 64 years, he was married to Olive Ruth (Haywood) Himes, who preceded him in death.

He retired from Sohio with more than 35 years of service and later worked for 10 years with the Electrolert Company.

Mr. Himes was one of the founders of the former Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a veteran of World War II, having proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, flying more than 32 missions in a B-24 over Europe.

Gladys I. Shaffer, 96

Gladys I. Shaffer, 96, Brookville, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Jefferson Manor.

She was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Knox Dale, a daughter of the late Reed Ellsworth and Emma Francis (Meade) Wolfe.

She was married to Carl V. Shaffer, who preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1997.

Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker and had previously worked as a nurse at Brookville Hospital and the Pennsylvania Memorial Home in Brookville.

She also worked for the G.C. Murphy Co. in Brookville and the Brookville Glove Factory.
