Gerald William “Bill” Barnett, 87

Gerald William “Bill” Barnett, 87, of the Stanton area, Brookville, died Tuesday, March 21, 2012, at McKinley Health Center.

He was born May 12, 1924, in New Bethlehem, a son of the late Merle Blair and Blanche Laura (Cathcart) Barnett.

Sept. 16, 1949, he married the former Bertha “Jean” Kennedy, who survives. They enjoyed 62 years of good marriage.

Mr. Barnett was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, in the 104th Infantry division.

He worked as a truck driver at Reed Milling for more than 37 years, delivering feed to many area farmers.

Lucy R. Stefanelli, 87

Lucy R. Stefanelli, 87, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe.

She was born in 1924 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Felice and Giovanna (Manacchio) Ciccone.

Mrs. Stefanelli was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, Indiana, and the Catholic Daughters of America.

During World War II, she worked for Federal Lab making shells and flares, while awaiting the return of her soldier fiancé, Angelo Stefanelli. Following the war, they were married Jan. 24, 1946, and shared 61 years together until his death in 2007.
