Arman F. Bonante, 88

Arman F. Bonante, 88, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Born on Dec. 28, 1923, in Troutville, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew and Pompa (Rubino) Bonante.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

On June 24, 1944, he married Bessie M. (Frantz) Bonante. She survives.
For 53 years, he was the owner and operator of Bonante’s Garage in Sykesville.

He attended Grace United Methodist Church in Sykesville for many years.

Emory Elkin, 86

Emory Elkin, 86, of Smicksburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Forbes Regional Hospital.

He was born on March 11, 1926, in Loop, Pa., the son of Duff and Nellie (Marshall) Elkin.

Emory graduated from Dayton High School and was a member of Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church.

He worked at Dow Chemical Company as a supervisor for 20 years and then at Little Mahoning Pipeline as a supervisor for 20 years before his retirement in 1991.
