James R. "J.R." McConnaughey, 79, Rossiter, formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Sept, 28, 2011, at his home.
Mr. McConnaughey was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Buffalo, a son of the late Clinton and Isabella (Findley) McConnaughey.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (McGee) McConnaughey, whom he married May 1, 1954.
A U.S. Navy veteran who earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Mr. McConnaughey was a member of the Rossiter American Legion, a member and pistol instructor for the NRA and a hunter safety instructor. Â
