Gerald Gilbert Waite, 67, Punxsutawney, formerly of Frenchville, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011.
He was born July 20, 1944, in Madera, a son of the late Orrie and Ethel Mae (Wilks) Waite.
July 25, 1964, he married the former Darlene Kay Randolph, who survives.
Mr. Waite was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Punxsutawney.
He worked as a plumber and maintenance man for the West Branch School District and Allied Mechanical in State College.
Sarah Straitiff, 86, Brookville, formerly of Coolspring, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.
She was born July 6, 1925, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late George and Anna M. (Updyke) Geer.
She was married to Leonard E. Straitiff, who preceded her in death Feb. 13, 2003.
Mrs. Straitiff was employed as an assembly worker at Sylvania in Brookville, and she also worked for the Brookville Glove Company.
She was a member of the Brookville Senior Citizens and the Coolspring United Methodist Church, where she had previously served as church treasurer.

Gary Lynn Korney, 63, Glen Campbell, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, in Banks Township, Indiana County.
He was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Punxsutawney, a son of Dorothy (Brickell) Korney, who survives, and the late Thomas Korney.
Aug. 22, 1970, he married Margaret âPeggyâ P. (Janocha) Korney, who survives.
Mr. Korney served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
For most of his career, he was employed in the coal mining industry, where he had worked for the Don Jury Coal Company; Johnstown Coal & Coke at Bear Run; Barnes & Tucker; and then the Greenwich Collieries.
Robert (Bob) H. Diggory III, 77, Dacula, Ga., died suddenly Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011.
He was born in Albany, N.Y., a son of the late Robert H. and Annis (Sykes) Diggory Jr.
He attended Russell Sage College and served in the National Guard.
Mr. Diggory was a long-time member of the Lions Club and a volunteer for Project Share in Carlisle.
He will be remembered for his warm heart and friendship, faith in God and his volunteer contributions to the communities in which he lived.

David Walter Snyder, âThe Duke,â 76, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at home.
He was born March 22, 1935, in Nescopeck, a son of the late Charles and Bernice (Laycock) Snyder.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1954, and was trained as an aircraft mechanic. After serving his country for 20 years, he retired as a Master Sergeant.
June 20, 1957, he married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Jordan, who preceded him in death Oct. 16, 2007.
August 26th
Richard Babco, 67, of Logan, Indiana County, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown.
He was born Oct. 14, 1943, in Logan, Banks Township, a son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Kraynak) Babco.
Aug. 28, 1965, he married Laura Belle Huey, who preceded him in death April 9, 1999.
Mr. Babco was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Glen Campbell.
He worked in the coal strip mining industry doing augering with Andy Freno and then working with the Kraynak Coal Company prior to his employment with Hoffman Diamond Products of Punxsutawney.

Kimberly A. Gloden, 53, Punxsutawney, formerly of Springdale, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.
She was born Aug. 29, 1957, in Natrona Heights, a daughter of Elsie Baksis of Springdale and the late Robert Dehus.
Ms. Gloden was affiliated with the Walston Club in Punxsutawney and enjoyed cooking, painting, motorcycles, and watching home interior and real estate shows on television.
August 24th
Emma P. Zimmerman, 98, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at McKinley Health Care Center, Brookville.
She was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Grange, a daughter of the late Charles B. and Maggie P. (Fry) Plyler.
She was married to Walter J. Zimmerman, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1978.
Mrs. Zimmerman was employed as a school teacher in the Punxsutawney Area School District, and she was a member of the Progressive Study Club, the NEA and PEO, as well as a life member of the Punxsutawney Historical & Genealogical Society.
Richard Shawn Haines, 40, Florida, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, in Florida.
He was born Jan. 14, 1971, in Spangler, a son of Wanda (Bott) Fisher.
Mr. Haines was employed as a hair stylist at Fantastic Samâs.
In addition to his mother, surviving relatives include his step-father, Willis Fisher; two sisters, Tonya Bond and husband Randy, and Amber Keith and husband Jamie, all of Punxsutawney; a step-brother, William Fisher of Punxsutawney; a nephew, Dallas Bond of Punxsutawney; his long-time companion, Billy Ferringer of Florida; an a number of aunts and uncles.
