Walter M. "John" Bouch, 94

August 15, 2011

Walter M. "John"  Bouch, 94, Mahaffey, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mr. Bouch was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Sydney, a son of the late Miles O. Bouch and Elizabeth A. (Snyder) Bouch.

He was married to B. Margaret (Clark) Bouch, who preceded him in death May 17, 2009. They were married 67 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII.

Mr. Bouch loved hunting, fishing and practical jokes.

Kadence “Kadie” Louise Stonebraker, 4

Kadence “Kadie” Louise Stonebraker, 4, Decker’s Point, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family.

The daughter of Jacob P. and Sarah L. (Yeomans) Stonebraker, she was born March 14, 2007, in Indiana.

Kadie greatly enjoyed attending Junior Church at the Bible Baptist Church located near Clymer.

She loved playing with little puppies and her kitty, Fluffy. Kadie liked spending time outside taking Ranger rides; swimming in the pool; jumping on the trampoline; having family cookouts; and watching fireworks.

James S. "Jim" Trunzo, 70

James S. "Jim" Trunzo, 70, died peacefully at home surrounded by family July 2, 2011. 

He was born July 22, 1940, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Francis J. Trunzo, MD, and Catherine (Kernan) Trunzo of Punxsutawney.

He was married to Jerry Frances (Carter) Trunzo, who survives.

Mr. Trunzo was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. 

He served his country with the U.S.N. Mobile Construction Battalion, MCB-7 (the Seabees), from 1962 to 1967.

William Alvin Motter, 80

August 13, 2011

William Alvin Motter, 80, passed away, Saturday, July 30, 2011, at his residence in Tifton, Ga., after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 21, 1931, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Beulah Claire Fireman and Fredrick Charles Motter.

Mr. Motter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he learned his electronics trade. He later joined IBM machines and was one of the technicians who worked on electronics for the early Apollo missions.

H. B. “Barney” McGee, 87

August 11, 2011

H. B. “Barney” McGee, 87, McGees Mills, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Mahaffey, a son of the late Charles Carlisle and Eva (Byron) McGee.

Mr. McGee was married to Marjorie (Hill) McGee, who preceded him in death Dec. 26, 2007.

Norma Jean (Crissman) Fetters, 82

Norma Jean (Crissman) Fetters, 82, Indiana, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Scenery Hill Manor.

She was born April 6, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of William McKinley and Sylvia Mae (Turney) Crissman.

She was married to John Philip Fetters, who preceded her in death in 1973.

Mrs. Fetters was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Indiana. She was raised in Smicksburg and was a 1947 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.

Lelia May Shugars, 74

Lelia May Shugars, 74, formerly of W. Liberty Street, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 31, 1933, in Pitcairn, Allegheny County, a daughter of the late Ross and Jane (Bevan) Fike.

Dec. 17, 1955, she married Howard T. Shugars, who preceded her in death March 13, 1989.

Mrs. Shugars was a member of the First Church of God.

She was employed at Rola-Jensen and was a manager of Bradford House at Grants.

Harry D. Sebring, 85

August 10, 2011

Harry D. Sebring, 85, Knox Dale, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Knox Township, a son of the late C. Earl Sebring and Venice (Shoffner) Sebring.

Sept. 17, 1946, he married Patty J. Dinger, who preceded him in death Sept. 3, 2010.

Mr. Sebring was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Marine Corps.

He worked as a sawyer and carpenter and later retired from the Pennsylvania Fish & Game Commission.

Darl Yount, 85

August 8, 2011

Darl Yount, 85, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

He was born June 13, 1926, in Ringgold, a son of the late Elwood and Grace (Geist) Yount.

Aug. 27, 1948, he married the former Dorothy G. Rugh, who survives.

He attended the First Church of God.

Mr. Yount worked as a heavy equipment operator for PennDOT for 35 years. He was also a farmer.

He was a member of the John J. Jenks Masonic Lodge and the Punxsutawney Country Club.

Mr. Yount really enjoyed playing golf, walking and hunting.

Emma L. Zimmerman, 98

August 8, 2011

Emma Lowesa Zimmerman, 98, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

She was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Grange, a daughter of the late Charles B. and Maggie P. (Fry) Plyler.

She was married to Walter J. Zimmerman, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1978.

Mrs. Zimmerman was a teacher at the Punxsutawney Area School District.

She was a member of the Progressive Study Club, the NEA and PEO, and a life member of the Punxsutawney Historical Society.

She was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Punxsutawney.
