William Alvin Motter, 80, passed away, Saturday, July 30, 2011, at his residence in Tifton, Ga., after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 21, 1931, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Beulah Claire Fireman and Fredrick Charles Motter.

Mr. Motter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he learned his electronics trade. He later joined IBM machines and was one of the technicians who worked on electronics for the early Apollo missions.
