Lisa (Noerr) Rivera, 33

Lisa (Noerr) Rivera, 33, Kearneysville, W. Va., formerly of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

She was born Aug. 10, 1977, a daughter of Harry E. and Carol (Stahlman) Noerr, who survive, of Punxsutawney.

May 5, 2006, she married Daniel R. Rivera, who survives.

She was an elementary school teacher at the Prince William County School District in Virginia.

Jeffrey Hamilton King, 65

Jeffrey Hamilton King, 65, step-son of Donald M. MacIsaac of Rochester Mills, died unexpectedly of natural causes March 15, 2011, at his home in Gaithersburg, Md., after visiting his terminally- ill brother, Timothy H. King, locally three days before.

Mr. King was born Dec. 21, 1946, in White Plains, N.Y., a son of the late Hamilton and Bettye (Huntley) King, both of whom were trained as teachers at Oswego State College, Oswego, N.Y.

Helen Rosman Koromaus, 96

Helen Rosman Koromaus, 96, DeLancey, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born June 15, 1914, in Vintondale, Cambria County, a daughter of the late Wassil and Ann (Danch) Rosman.

Feb. 1, 1936, she married Joseph Koromaus, who preceded her in death March 31, 1986.

Mrs. Koromaus was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. She belonged to the Rosary Altar Guild at the church.

Lucy B. Phillips, 89

Lucy B. Phillips, 89, Punxsutawney (Albion area), died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Albion, a daughter of John L. and Fannie B. (Burkett) Rankin.

Aug. 23, 1939, she married Ronald L. Phillips, who preceded her in death March 26, 1988.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Albion United Methodist Church and its Ladies’ Aid.

She and her husband owned Ronald L. & L.B. Phillips Manufacturing in Albion.

Mary Lou (Snavely) Bair, 83

Mary Lou (Snavely) Bair, 83, formerly of the Elk Run area and the Jefferson Street High-Rise, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Laurelbrooke Landing, Brookville.

She was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Russell and Florence (Collen) Snavely.

June 23, 1951, she married Wayne (Yogi) Edward Bair, who preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2002.

Mrs. Bair was employed as a cook at IUP-Punxsutawney and the Eagles, and she was a member of F.O. Eagles No. 1231, where she also served as past president.

Kathy K. (Stewart) Simon, 63

Kathy K. (Stewart) Simon, 63, Erie, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born June 30, 1947, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Thomas and Martha (Myers) Stewart.

Ms. Simon had resided in Erie since 1968.

She retired from Seaway Manufacturing Company after 30 years of employment. She had previously been employed part-time by the Barber National Institute and Hamot Medical Center. She especially enjoyed shopping.

Georgieann Gaston, 64

Georgieann Gaston, 64, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011, at her home.

Mrs. Gaston was born Feb. 19, 1947, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Barnoff) Stamler.

She was married to Shawn B. Gaston, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Randall L. Sharp, 63

May 8, 2011

Randall L. Sharp, 63, Dudley, N.C., formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at his home after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. 

He was born Jan. 18, 1948, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of Clifford and Marion Sharp.

Mr. Sharp was an accomplished athlete at Jamestown High School, where he starred as a tailback in football and a sprinter in track.

He then went to Clarion University, where he continued his football career. 

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Sharp was a longtime self-employed carpenter in Punxsutawney and then in Dudley, N.C.

Donald W. Finley, 72

Donald W. Finley, 72, passed away suddenly Monday, May 2, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Charleroi, a son of William L. Finley and Ruth Little, who preceded him in dealth.

In 1956, he graduated from Punxsutawney High School.

After graduation, he served in the Army Reserve. From there, he moved to the Philadelphia area, where he became a certified technician for Thiokol Chemical in New Jersey. He also worked for Western Electric and later at ATT Bell Labs, where he co-authored a patent for one of their chemical procedures.

Gaynelle (Nanz) Borts, 93

Gaynelle (Nanz) Borts, 93, Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at Mahoning Riverside Manor, Punxsutawney.

She was born July 1, 1917, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late William F. Nanz and LaRue (Bhe) Nanz Thomas.

June 17, 1944, she married Marley B. Borts, who preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2008.

Mrs. Borts was a life member of the First English Lutheran Church.
