The Rev. J. Richard Hackenberry, 87, Summerville, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at home.

He was born June 23, 1923, in Lewistown, a son of the late Charles Elmer and Carrie E. Hackenberry.

Dec. 21, 1949, he married Joyce Vivian Klinger, who preceded him in death Jan. 26, 1998.

Rev. Hackenberry attended the Western Pennsylvania Conference of United Methodist Churches and served for 60 years in ministry, serving 33 churches in eight charges. After his retirement, he served five other churches.
