Mary M. Reed, 89, Ringgold, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Timblin, a daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Snyder) Anderson.

Sept. 19, 1941, she married Charles “Skipper” Richard Reed, who survives.

Mrs. Reed was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church.

Earl H. Wetzel, 84

Earl H. Wetzel, 84, Rochester Mills, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 10, 1926, in Rayne Township, Indiana County, a son of the late Howard B. and Myrtle (Orr) Wetzel.

June 12, 1944, he married his wife of 66 years, Jean V. Farnsworth, who survives.

Mr. Wetzel spent his childhood on the farms of his parents and grandfather, H.H. Wetzel.

Nellie Elizabeth Postlewait, 98, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at her home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Corsica, a daughter of the late John M. and Della (McKinley) Love.

She was married to William M. Postlewait, who preceded her in death in April 1987. Mrs. Postlewait was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Punxsutawney.

Ruth B. Reitz, 85

Ruth B. Reitz, 85, Knox Dale, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at home.

She was born May 23, 1925, in Big Run, a daughter of the late Clarence R. and Wilda G. Kerr.

Aug. 11, 1956, in Brookville, she married James “Jim” William Reitz, who survives.

Mrs. Reitz was employed at Standard Pennant Company in Big Run and The Cameron (Sylvania) in Reynoldsville.

She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church of Knox Dale, where she played piano, taught Sunday School and was the treasurer.

Mrs. Reitz enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Nellie Elizabeth Postlewait, 98

Nellie Elizabeth Postlewait, 98, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at her home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Corsica, a daughter of the late John M. and Della (McKinley) Love.

She was married to William M. Postlewait, who preceded her in death in April of 1987. Mrs. Postlewait was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Punxsutawney.

Avonell Marie Bowser, 88

Avonell Marie Bowser, 88, formerly of Big Run, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

She was born June 27, 1922, in Bell Township, a daughter of the late William H. and Emma (Sankey) Bargerstock Buck.

She married Clarence “Pat” Bowser, who preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1996.

Mrs. Bowser was a long- time active member of the St. Phillips United Methodist Church of Big Run. She had been attending the Apostolic Gospel Church, Brookville.

She worked for many years as a waitress at Ruth & Harry’s and later at Bucks restaurant.

James Simon Monroe Crooks, 84

James Simon Monroe Crooks, 84, of Home, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born in 1926 in Smicksburg, a son of the late Jesse M. and Erma E. (Eakman) Crooks.

He was married to his wife of 63 years, Dolly J. Cornman Crooks, who survives.

Mr. Crooks was a member of the Old Mahoning Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army as an aviation cadet.

Helen Ruth (Piper) Schrock, 100,

November 4, 2010

Punxsutawney, (the Fordham area), died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, four days short of her 101st birthday, with her family by her side.

She was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Emporium, a daughter of the late John and Addie Piper.

She was married to Clair Schrock, who survives. They were married for 68 years.

After marrying in 1942, the couple moved to the Punxsutawney area, and in 1950, to their home near Valier. There, Mrs. Schrock was a homemaker and helped Clair run their farm where they raised chickens and later beef cattle.

Todd Andrew Stiver, 45

Anita, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at home.

He was born Feb. 12, 1965, in Anita, a son of James and Andrea (Zeedick) Stiver, who survive in Anita.

Mr. Stiver was employed by Brookville Wood Products and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his ATV and being outdoors. He also enjoyed his granddaughter, Harper, who was the light of his life.
