Today, the âPunxsy Polamalusâ will be participating in the McDonaldâs Steelers Trivia Contest in Pittsburgh.
Friday, Punxsutawney Mayor James Wehrle issued the following proclamation:
âWhereas Punxsutawney has always had some great trivia teams; whereas Mike Stello has always represented Punxsutawney well;
whereas Bob Long (pictured above, right, with Wehrle) has always represented Punxsutawney well;
whereas Nick Digilarmo has always represented Punxsutawney well;
Its officially yard sale season, and the women of the Catholic Daughters of America were busy getting ready for their annual yard sale that will be held today at the SS.C.D. auditorium.
The yard sale will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.

Several local fire companies responded to and provided backup at a late-afternoon structure fire on Paradise Road in Henderson Township on Thursday.
Members of Station 17 in Big Run are pictured here dousing the hot spot on the house.
Personnel remained on scene late into the evening.

DUBOIS â Work to improve the Route 119/322 "Blinker Parkway" intersection in Sandy Township is continuing with an update. When work completes late this year, area drivers will be able to travel through a wider intersection with improved visibility and enhanced safety.
For the time being, drivers can expect:
âą Roadway widening, excavation and drainage work to continue;
âą Temporary signals are operational and old signals have been removed;
âą Utility relocation work will continue.

Members of the Weather Capital Robotics Club are shown with âWar Monger," their machine that finished second out of 54 teams at California University of Pennsylvania and the BOTS IQ program.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â Punxsutawney Borough Council tabled the request for new basketball hoops, backboards and posts for the basketball courts at Harmon Field at Monday's council meeting.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â Jeff Curtis, president of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, has announced that the Chamberâs executive director has resigned to take a position at another local establishment.
Marlene Lellock has accepted the newly-created position as executive director of the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center.
A cupcake parade was held recently at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library as a part of Screen-Free Week.
Local organizations held indoor and outdoor activities for children, in the hopes of giving them the opportunity to be more active.
The purpose of Screen-Free Week was to get kids away from televisions, computers and iPad screens â a mission that lasts far beyond one week a year.

This recycling site in Sportsburg is slated to close July 1.
Donna Cooper, solid waste/recycling coordinator for the Jefferson County Solid Waste Authority, announced the closure last week at the Young Township supervisorsâ meeting.
