PUNXSUTAWNEY ‚ÄĒ Police seized heroin, crack cocaine, cash and more in a search of a South Main Street residence where two men were also taken into custody Thursday morning.
Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police said the Troop C Vice Unit executed a search warrant at the residence at 6:05 a.m. Thursday as the result of an undercover drug investigation.
Taken into custody were Kenneth Edward Ball, 60, Punxsy, and Aaron Albert Meanor, 28, Pittsburgh.
BROOKVILLE ‚ÄĒ Since its inception, the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging (JCAAA) has tried to provide county residents with resources that would allow them to stay in their homes longer.
But for the agency to continue to be a vital asset to the county‚Äôs older citizens, it is seeking help from one specific source ‚ÄĒ the county‚Äôs oldest resident.

YOUNG TOWNSHIP ‚ÄĒThere were no injuries reported in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday near Nelson‚Äôs Mini-Mart on Route 119 north, Young Township.
According to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, a Dodge Neon driven by Elise V. Butler, Punxsutawney, was traveling north on Route 119 when traffic was stopped ahead, and she struck the rear of a Ford Ranger driven by Leonard T. Lang, Rochester Mills.
PUNXSUTAWNEY ‚ÄĒ The environmental clean-up of the Mahoning Shadow Trail will finally be completed this week, months after a fuel spill that occurred when a box truck crashed over the side of a bridge and landed on the trail, according to Borough Manager Ben White.
During Tuesday's Public Safety meeting, the environmental cleanup which will be completed this week.
"The company that was contracted to clean up the spill should be finished this week," White said during Tuesday's Public Safety meeting. The trail cleanup was supervised by Tracy Zents and Jefferson County Emergency Services.
PUNXSUTAWNEY ‚ÄĒ PennDOT District 10-0 has granted tentative approval for Punxsutawney Borough Council to lower the speed limit to 35 mph from 45 mph on Route 119 (Indiana Hill).
Tuesday, during a meeting of council‚Äôs Public Safety Committee, Borough Manager Ben White said last year, council requested that PennDOT perform a traffic study on Route 119 between the bridge over Mahoning Creek to the bridge over the Mahoning Shadow Trail, so the speed limit could be changed from 45 mph to 35 mph, in order to transition to the 25 mph speed zone.
BROOKVILLE ‚ÄĒ As Gov. Tom Corbett delivered his budget proposal Tuesday, Doug Hill, the executive director for the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) predicts the budget for fiscal year 2012-13 to be a ‚Äúwatershed budget.‚ÄĚ
The state is anticipating a $500 million deficit resulting from the current fiscal year, which could call for a complete restructuring of programs.
PUNXSUTAWNEY ‚ÄĒ After months of planning and weeks of preparation, it‚Äôs hard to believe that Groundhog Day is over for another year.
Bill Deeley, Inner Circle president, is citing 2012 as a huge success compared to 2011.

That quite a change from her last school, in Lamar, S.C., where the poverty rate ranged from 85 to 90 percent, and the school experienced some gang-related violence.
PUNXSUTAWNEY ‚ÄĒ The Punxsutawney Fire Department responded to two emergency calls that were reported at the same time at 3:22 a.m. Saturday.
Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company was the recipient of both calls, a car fire at a residence along Route 310, Young Township, Harmony, and a car that was driven into the Mahoning Creek at the Route 310 and Route 119 intersection.
Punxsutawney Fire Department Chief Bryan Smith ordered Elk Run to go to the car fire and Central Fire Department to respond to the car into the creek.
