Our small town is blessed with a number of charitable groups that raise funds for other local organizations that need them.
It was back to â€śteachersâ€™ dirty looksâ€ť â€” though the teachers in our district donâ€™t have any dirty looks! â€” on Tuesday, as most area students returned to class following summer vacation.

YOUNG TOWNSHIP â€” A two-vehicle coal truck accident on Route 119, Young Township, sent one of the drivers to the hospital and closed the road for more than three hours on Monday afternoon, leading to a major traffic tie-up.

PennDOT announced at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Monday that Route 119 is closed in both directions in Young Township, Jefferson County, between Yates Road and Cunningham Road due to a crash involving two coal trucks. It has been reported that diesel fuel and coal debris are on the road.
The road is expected to reopen later today.
According to Jefferson Co. Emergency Services, there were no funnel clouds that touched down in the county during Thursday's storms.

Popular country band Diamond Rio closed out Brookville Community Days 2014 on Saturday with a performance at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds.
The four-day event was sponsored by the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company.

Everhart's Trial Postponed
The Trial of John Everhart for complicity in the Lickingville murder, which has been in progress in the Clarion county court for several days, came to an abrupt termination last Saturday when the judge was informed by a physician that one of the jurors was sick.
