Route 119 Travel Advisory

August 25, 2014

PennDOT announced at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Monday that Route 119 is closed in both directions in Young Township, Jefferson County, between Yates Road and Cunningham Road due to a crash involving two coal trucks. It has been reported that diesel fuel and coal debris are on the road.

The road is expected to reopen later today.

August 24th

County avoids major damage in Thursday storm

August 24, 2014

According to Jefferson Co. Emergency Services, there were no funnel clouds that touched down in the county during Thursday's storms.

Pictured is a cloud formation near the East End of Punxsutawney that attempted to form funnel clouds with rotation, but to no avail.

DIAMOND RIO CLOSES COMMUNITY DAYS

Popular country band Diamond Rio closed out Brookville Community Days 2014 on Saturday with a performance at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds.

The four-day event was sponsored by the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company.

The Trial of John Everhart for complicity in the Lickingville murder, which has been in progress in the Clarion county court for several days, came to an abrupt termination last Saturday when the judge was informed by a physician that one of the jurors was sick.

Public meeting to inform on Chronic Wasting Disease

DUBOIS — Those who want to learn more about chronic wasting disease, and the rules that apply within areas of the state where the disease has been detected can attend a public meeting to be held next week in
DuBois, Clearfield County.

The meeting, to be hosted by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and held Thursday, Aug. 28 in the auditorium at DuBois Area Senior High School, is slated to begin at 6 p.m. The high school is located at 425 Orient Ave. in DuBois. Doors will open at about 5 p.m.

Travel Advisory: Closure on Route 3007 Summerville Bridge extended through weekend

SUMMERVILLE — The closure on the Route 3007 Summerville Bridge between Route 28 and Broad Street has been extended through the weekend and is expected to reopen before Tuesday, Aug. 26. The road remains open to local traffic.

A posted detour is in place using Route 3022 (Roller Coaster Road) to Route 3003 (Mount Pleasant Road) to Route 28. Work is being performed on a 24-hour schedule during the detour.

This $3,771,853 bridge replacement project is being constructed by Plum Contracting, Inc. The project is expected to be completed the end of October 2014.
