PAHS crowns Homecoming Queen, Princess

The 2014 PAHS Homecoming Queen and Princess, as voted by this year’s senior class, were crowned during halftime of Friday’s varsity football game against A-C Valley. This year’s court included (top photo, from left) Hunter Smith with escort Ruben Taylor; Emily Schall with escort Zane Dilts; Amber Ward with escort Marshall Richardson; Jensen Constantino with escort Lucas Mennetti; Anna Horner with escort Trenton Gaston; and Allison Fye with escort Jerad Meterko. Constantino was crowned Homecoming Queen, and Ward was crowned Princess.

Brookville football game postponed as result of bomb threat

Sources have reported that, due to a bomb threat at the school today, the football game scheduled at Brookville High School tonight against Keystone has been postponed until 1 p.m. tomorrow.

D9sports.com reported the news Friday afternoon, citing information from school officials.

Lighting up the Night: Homecoming Queen to be crowned tonight

The senior class at PAHS recently selected six senior girls to be on the Homecoming Queen’s Court. This year’s court includes Jensen Constantino, Allison Fye, Anna Horner, Emily Schall, Hunter Smith and Amber Ward.

The girls with the highest and second-highest vote counts will be crowned queen and princess at tonight's Homecoming football game against A-C Valley.

Punxsy Pizza & Prevention cookin' this weekend

Preparations have been underway for Punxsy Pizza and Prevention, to be held this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Punxsy Pizza located at 115 North Findley St. in Punxsutawney. Pictured (from left) are Ed Kengersky, Kengersky Nationwide Insurance; Bryan Smith, assistant chief Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company; Nathan Shotts, Punxsy Pizza; Larry McGuire Rembowski, member of the Central Fire Department and secretary for the Punxsutawney Fire Department; Denny Fetterman, secretary of Punxsutawney Eagles FOE No. 1231; and Scott Anthony, owner of Punxsy Pizza.

Remembering Jack White

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Community leaders and friends of Jack D. White, 75, who passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends on Monday, memorialize him as a great friend and one who was willing to give his time to help his community and school district.

White had been a member of the Punxsutawney Area School Board for 17 years and had a part in some of the major construction projects that took place, the construction of the Punxsutawney Area Middle School building and the renovations at Punxsutawney Area High School.

Corbett visits Indiana for Governor’s Awards for the Arts presentation

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett (pictured) was on hand to present the 2014 Governor's Awards for the Arts Sunday afternoon at the Fisher Auditorium of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Performing Arts Center in Indiana. First Lady Susan Corbett also spoke at the event and recognized the individuals who received the awards.

School board talks bus stops

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Wednesday evening‘s Punxsy Area School Board meeting saw a variety of topics being discussed, with one of the main ones being bus stops. Addressing the board were concerned grandparents Bill and Donna Rampe of Church Street on a topic covered earlier this month — a bus stop at Church Street.
