CELEBRATING 100th ANNIVERSARY

May 18, 2014

The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center on Sunday celebrated the 100th anniversary of the building that houses it.

Originally completed in 1914 as a post office, the building was abandoned for several years, then purchased by a group of concerned citizens who developed it into the remarkable education center that it is today.

Current Postmaster General for Punxsutawney John McBee (right) and current Postmaster General for Anita Maragaret Hudock pose alongside a display in the Weather Discovery Center's lobby that commemorates the building's original purpose as a post office.
