PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” There probably won't be a tax increase, but the Punxsutawney Area School Board is looking at using some of its fund balance in order to balance the district budget for fiscal year 2013-2014.
The board held a budget workshop in the central office board room on Wednesday, and there was plenty for the members to discuss.

HUSTON TOWNSHIP, CLEARFIELD COUNTY â€” DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police have reported a fatal traffic accident that took place on Tuesday night on Bennetts Valley Highway (Route 255) in Huston Township, Clearfield County and claimed the life of a 42-year-old DuBois woman.
Police said Tammi L. Markievich was traveling south on Route 255 at a high rate of speed in her 2003 Jeep Liberty at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday night when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.
HENDERSON TOWNSHIP â€” Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania Police are asking for assistance from anyone with information on a burglary that took place at Gruda Metals in Henderson Township over the weekend.
Police said that on Sunday, between the hours of 1 and 2:30 a.m., unknown
actor(s) gained entry into the facility by breaking a side window into the scale house.
The actors then allegedly entered and removed numerous amounts of brass and copper, a welder, a socket set, a grease gun, a plasma cutter, a stereo system and a laptop.
