Woman's body discovered outside her Clymer residence

CLYMER — Friday evening, the Indiana County Coroner's Office reported a body found outdoors on Spruce Avenue in Clymer.

Corner Jerry L. Overman's office issued the release saying that a call was placed to Indiana County 911 at 10:12 a.m. on Friday reporting the incident.

The release identified the individual as Janice Marie Keith, 66, of Clymer and said she was discovered in the snow outside her residence nude from the waist down.

Chief Deputy Coroner Chad E. Dill pronounced Keith dead at the scene at 11:20 a.m.

Groundhog Royalty to be announced Friday

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Mindy Grose is a familiar face. You may recognize her as the director of the Pine Street Senior Center, or perhaps you have seen her throughout the community.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Grose is a graduate of Craig Senior High School.

PAHS Art Club gets its 'Phil' at Post Office

The PAHS Art Club decorated the Punxsutawney Post Office on Thursday night by painting five Groundhog Day-themed murals.

The group already painted murals at Lily's Restaurant and will continue at Miller Brothers Furniture today.

The group took a brief break Thursday to pose in front of a mural painted by Samantha Dyson and Thomas Troutman.

Pine Street Senior Center pulls off ‘picnic in the snow’ Event

Despite the cold and snow, those who visited the Pine Street Senior Center on Monday were in for quite a treat with a picnic in the snow. Though they didn't actually have a picnic in the snow, those in attendance were treated to the warmth of the indoors and picnic food, which included hot dogs. They were also treated to some entertainment, provided by Nancy Phillips (left) playing the bass and Bev Davis on vocals and guitar.

Getting ‘phestive’ with Phil includes checking out new items at Chamber’s souvenir shop

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The countdown to Groundhog Day continues, and
in the meantime, volunteers and employees at Punxsutawney Phil's Official Souvenir Shop and the Chamber of Commerce have been fielding calls and shipping out Groundhog Day souvenirs.

Phil’s ‘phestivities’ begin with Mulberry King, Queen

Robert Mario Bianco and Rita Richardson were crowned Groundhog King and Groundhog Queen of Mulberry Square on Tuesday, as Punxsutawney Phil paid a special visit for the crowning ceremony.

Local crews respond to vehicle vs. pedestrian call

A pedestrian was injured when she was struck by a vehicle in the Punxsutawney Post Office parking lot off East Mahoning Street in Punxsutawney at 4:35 p.m. on Monday.

Members of the Punxsutawney Fire Department assisted Jefferson County EMS and Punxsutawney Borough Police at the scene.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

No further details were available at Spirit press time.

Beta Sorority to keep a tradition going with Groundhog Weekend Food Fest

The Punxsy Beta Sorority will be holding its annual Food Fest on Groundhog Day weekend, beginning at 11 a.m on both Friday and Saturday at the Jefferson Social Hall, located across from the Punxsutawney Area Community Center.

Pictured is Gene Roberts, organizer of the Annual Groundhog Day Chili and Hot Wing Cook-Off, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Punxsy Elks No. 301, located at 205 North Findley St. in Punxsutawney.
