Happy New Year; Spirit closed Wednesday

December 30, 2013

From The Spirit’s staff to your families, we want to wish you a Happy New Year! We hope you celebrate in a safe manner and have a wonderful
holiday!

In observance of New Year’s Eve, our offices will be closing today at 3 p.m.

The office will remain closed Wednesday, Jan. 1, and there will be no paper.

Regular office hours will resume at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Siple serves others through The Santa Project

CLOE — During the holiday season, many get caught up with buying gifts for family and friends. Some may never stop to think about those who may not have the means to buy gifts or even have a Christmas.

For one little boy and his disabled grandmother, such was the case — until one man made it his mission to reach out and help.

Duane Siple is a kindhearted man who has spent the last 10 years living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

PACC continues to ‘reel’ in money for digital projector

The Punxsutawney Moose Club No. 954 donated $2,500 on Friday toward the digital projector fund at the Punxsutawney Area Community Center (PACC).

No injuries in two-car crash Friday afternoon

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Dr. Frank Bizousky is a familiar face. You may recognize him if you are a patient at Bizousky Family Practice. Or, perhaps you have seen him in the community.

PAHS students present roundtable discussion report on issues they are facing

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Two students from Punxsutawney Area High School recently participated in a roundtable discussion involving schools in Jefferson County.

Richard Britten, Punxsutawney Area Middle School (PAMS) principal, told the Punxsutawney Area School Board at a recent meeting that all of the schools in the county participated, including Jeff Tech.

Britten said Blake Bizousky and Johnny Gigliotti were two of the students who represented the Punxsutawney Area School District.

Van hits three parked vehicles in Big Run
