Give us some ‘Moore’ Music in the Park

Once again, the weather “played nice” for Music in the Park, as The Moore Brothers took the stage in Barclay Square Thursday night.

The group (top photo) played a variety of music, including a little bluegrass.

With first day of school approaching, council taking traffic precautions early

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Motorists in Punxsy continue to deal with two major detours, as the Route 119 Ridge Avenue/Elk Run bridge continues to be closed along with the Saw Mill Run Route 36 / West Mahoning Street bridge in the west end remaining closed. Ben White, Punxsutawney Borough manager, said that when school resumes, both detours will continue in place.

The Dayton Fair: It’s smokin’

Council approves trail mowing request

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Borough Council approved a motion for Public Works to mow the Mahoning Shadow Trail, as requested by the Punxsutawney Area Rails-to-Trails Association.

Ben White, Punxsutawney borough manager, received a letter from Matthew B. Taladay, president of the Trail Association.

Fun runs all week at the Dayton Fair

Wednesday is Military/Veterans’ Appreciation Day at the fair, and all military personnel and veterans will be admitted free of charge.

Featured at the grandstand will be Power Pull Productions presenting Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League with limited pro/super farm tractors, super stock 4x4 trucks, 6300 open 4x4s and 7700 open 4x4s.

Council implements new code of ethics, approves GPS program on borough manager’s computer

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Borough Council voted to implement the code of ethics and have a GPS tracking program for police and public works vehicles installed on Borough Manager Ben White's computer.

Up until now, the GPS tracking program was only available to be
viewed on Punxsutawney Borough Police Chief Tom Fedigan's computer.

Eric Story, council member, said under old business, that the GPS discussion regarding allowing the program to be on the manager’s computer, which had been tabled at the July borough council meeting, was supposed be discussed again at Monday's meeting.

Punxsy Phil “says,” ‘Gimme some o’ that sweet Elixir’

Punxsutawney Phil received a dose of the magic elixir that extends his life by seven years at Saturday's Phil Phest, held at Gobbler's Knob.

Phil's current age is 128 years old.
