As PennDOT promised, the bridge carrying Route 119 over Elk Run in the Punxsutawney Borough opened Thursday evening.
While the road is now open, motorists are asked to use caution and be alert for flaggers, as paving is still underway on the roadway improvement project.
A three-vehicle accident occurred at the corner of Virginia Avenue and East Mahoning Street on Thursday afternoon.
Punxsy Borough Police said that a four-door Cadillac was stopped and waiting to turn onto Virginia Avenue, with another vehicle stopped behind.
The accident occurred when a 17-year-old juvenile â€” who police say was distracted and didn't notice that the cars were stopped â€” hit the the vehicle in front of him, which led that vehicle to hit the Cadillac.
The 17-year-old juvenile suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
