PUNXSUTAWNEY â The American Veteransâ Traveling Tribute Wall will be traveling through downtown Punxsutawney today.
Residents are asked to please plan on lining the streets for the event.
The escort will leave the DuBois Harley-Davidson shop at 3 p.m. sharp
The Punxsutawney Lions Club is planning a flea market sale in September â with another likely in October â with proceeds set to go to the club to benefit the work it does in the community.
The set-up cost is $10 â which goes to the Lions Club â and $3.50 for a borough permit.
For commercial businesses looking to set up, the fee is $30, which includes the borough permit.
The Lions Club Flea Market is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Another flea market will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The primary mission of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club is perpetuating and protecting the Legend of Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day.
This has been a challenging feat for the Groundhog Club throughout the years.
The importance of protecting the trademark and legend of Phil is not only important for the Groundhog Club and the Groundhog Day Celebration, but also for others in the community who utilize Phil for their livelihood, the local economy and tourism.
A few weeks back, many of the members of the Punxsutawney Memorial Libraryâs Summer Reading Program held their end-of-the-year program.
More recently, though, the âWee Onesâ â children aged 18 months to 35 months â held their own end-of-summer party to celebrate their achievements.
Nine of 11 qualified readers were in attendance. The Wee Ones, as a group, read a whopping total of 225 books this summer!
