Big Run honors Loyalty Day

During Sunday’s Loyalty Day commemoration, Big Run VFW Post 9044 Adjutant Bob Lott (left) and Post 9044 Commander Jim Pallone (right) present area student Lana Malia with a certificate recognizing her for her efforts in creating a permanent record of veterans' graves at two area cemeteries as her senior project.

Rep. Glenn Thompson was the keynote speaker.

They’re lovin’ it: Local McDonald’s employees collecting for care packages to send to troops stationed overseas

PUNXSUTAWNEY— When most people think of McDonald's, they think of a place to grab a quick bite to eat. What they don't see or realize is that each person has a story to tell.

Everyone has something happening in their life that is affecting them.
Sherry Huber is one of those people.

She watched all three of her children get deployed to Afghanistan.
She felt the same angst and worry as many others who have a loved one fighting overseas.

It was while sending care packages to her children that she became aware of some fellow soldiers who never receive reminders from home.
