As Easter quickly approaches, the PRIDE organization is gearing up for the Easter egg promotion event to be held downtown.
Downtown merchants will be distributing plastic Easter eggs, which will contain a coupon for that business.
The promotion kicks off March 18 and will run through March 30.
PRIDE is encouraging merchants to have their own local promotions in hopes of boosting sales and bringing in potential shoppers.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Punxsutawney Borough Council approved a motion to put six streets out to bid and approved oil and chipping for another street and many of the alleys in the borough at Monday's Punxsutawney Borough Council meeting.

INDIANA â Frank Abagnale, considered one of the nation's leading authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secured documents, acted as keynote presenter at Indiana University of Pennsylvania during its financial crimes seminar on Wednesday.
Abagnale is perhaps most famous for the book detailing his life â "Catch Me If You Can" â and perhaps more so for the movie it was adapted into, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

DELANCEY â Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police reported Monday that, between noon on Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday, an unknown actor defecated in the rear alcove of the DeLancey Post Office in Young Township.
According to police, the actor defecated on the rear door and the cement pad below, which required disinfecting and cleaning of the area.
The actor also left a crushed, empty Busch Light can at the scene.
Anyone with information on the identity of the actor is asked to contact PSP-Punxsy at 938-0510.
WALSTON â First Assembly of God in Walston will once again be hosting a food distribution with Second Harvest on Monday, March 18.
You may register for food by signing up starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 12. Please call (814) 938-3724.
You must speak with someone to confirm your registration for the food distribution.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Members of the Punxsutawney Area School Board Buildings and Groundsâ Committee discussed numerous items at their recent meeting, specifically heat in the Punxsutawney Area High School (PAHS) auditorium and the facility use request form.

The Children's Health Fair kicked off Saturday with fun events for the entire family.
Van Dyke and Company performed a few dance routines and welcomed those who wished to try dance themselves.
Lifespan Family Services and AmeriHealth Mercy co-hosted the fair at the Punxsutawney Area Community Center.

Opening the Mills
On Monday morning the two large saw mills owned by Wise & Hall at Big Run, resumed operations, giving employment to a large force of men.
They have a large number of logs on hand and the mills will be kept running steadily all season.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â If you want to think warm thoughts that will propel us into summer-like weather, than why not think of the Punxsutawney Relay For Life event, which will be held on Saturday, July 13, in Barclay Square.
Plans and preparations for this yearâs event are already well underway.
"We need people to recruit new teams for the Relay," said Jennifer Heinze, co-chair with Robyn Shaffer for the Punxsy Relay again this year.
