PUNXSUTAWNEY â As Punxsy Phil has given us a forecast of a shorter winter, it's already time to start thinking about road construction season in Punxsutawney, and this is the summer when both the Route 119 Bridge on Ridge Avenue in Elk Run and the Saw Mill Run Bridge on West Mahoning Street are set to be replaced.
Now, there's news that the Margiotti Bridge will need to be replaced.
BROOKVILLE â âItâs kind of like âIndiana Jonesâ,â said Ken Burkett, the director of the Jefferson County History Center. âWeâve got the secret journal with the codes in it, and weâve got the rocks out there that weâve got to find. Itâs kind of a fun way of putting things together.â
PUNXSUTAWNEY â As the saying goes, "Art for art's sake", which proved to have a following at Tuesday's Punxsutawney Area School Board meeting, as a large crowd of art teachers, art students and parents spoke to the board regarding the elimination of an art teacher position at Punxsutawney Are High School (PAHS).
There were eight people who signed up to address the board regarding the proposal to eliminate one art teacher position.
Recently, the PAHS senior class chose six senior girls to represent it as the members of the 2013 Winter Queenâs Court. This yearâs court includes Shayla Brink, Maija Carol, Audrianna DeLacour, Lauren Kachmar, Shannon Rosetti and Lauren Wolfe. The senior girl with the highest number of votes will reign as queen, and the girl with the second-highest vote total will be named princess. The crowning will take place during halftime of Fridayâs varsity basketball game.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Your number could be up if you don't have your address number affixed to your home or in front of it, according to Punxsutawney Borough Council.
"In my travels â as I walk a lot â every day, I have taken note that many homes in the borough do not have house numbers attached to them," said Larry Chenoga, Punxsutawney Borough Council president, at Monday's Public Safety Committee meeting.
