PUNXSUTAWNEY — As the saying goes, "Art for art's sake", which proved to have a following at Tuesday's Punxsutawney Area School Board meeting, as a large crowd of art teachers, art students and parents spoke to the board regarding the elimination of an art teacher position at Punxsutawney Are High School (PAHS).
There were eight people who signed up to address the board regarding the proposal to eliminate one art teacher position.
Recently, the PAHS senior class chose six senior girls to represent it as the members of the 2013 Winter Queen’s Court. This year’s court includes Shayla Brink, Maija Carol, Audrianna DeLacour, Lauren Kachmar, Shannon Rosetti and Lauren Wolfe. The senior girl with the highest number of votes will reign as queen, and the girl with the second-highest vote total will be named princess. The crowning will take place during halftime of Friday’s varsity basketball game.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Your number could be up if you don't have your address number affixed to your home or in front of it, according to Punxsutawney Borough Council.
"In my travels — as I walk a lot — every day, I have taken note that many homes in the borough do not have house numbers attached to them," said Larry Chenoga, Punxsutawney Borough Council president, at Monday's Public Safety Committee meeting.
