PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” A joint meeting of the Punxsutawney Area School Board's Building and Maintenance and Athletic committees was held Tuesday, and expansion of the weight room at Punxsutawney Area High School into what has been a maintenance garage was discussed.
Jim Baun, chair of Building and Maintenance, said that the Punxsutawney Booster Club was willing to pay to expand and upgrade the present weight room facility. Bill Vasallo, PAHS athletic director, said his understanding was that the Booster Club was willing to donate the funds to pay for the weight room upgrade.
BROOKVILLE â€” If youâ€™re interested in benefiting two good causes and maybe having a pleasant day out while youâ€™re at it, you might have your chance on March 2 at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, which will be hosting Brookville author L.A. Adamson for a book signing that will raise money to help the library and sheltered animals.
Adamson, whose first name is Lisa, is the author of â€śSoggypaw Siberian Huskies,â€ť a chapter book that tells the tale of a husky named Czarah as she tries to assemble a sled dog team to fulfill her ownerâ€™s dream of conquering the Great Pennsylvania Sled Dog Race.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€”Â So many little boys and girls are now familiar with the term simulator, having grown up in an era where flight simulators and simulation games are a regular thing surrounding them. But at Punxsutawney Area Hospital (PAH), there's a new simulator in town, and this one's designed for the adults.
His (or her, as he/she has removable/addable body parts to be worn or not on any given day) name is Pat Sim, and according to Lisa Wanchisn, PAH education trainer, the scope of possible training scenarios has been broadened by a large amount with Pat's arrival at the hospital.
BROOKVILLE â€” For the 17th year, Betsy and Dave Ferringer of Ferringer's Flowers in Brookville will be providing residents with an opportunity to help animals with the holding of its annual Pet Food Drive from March 1 through March 15.
