BIG RUN — At its most recent meeting Monday evening, Big Run Council changed a resolution it had voted on at an earlier meeting regarding what animals borough residents are allowed to keep on their property.
Tony Adamczyk, Big Run resident, requested that council change Ordinance No. 221 regarding which animals are permitted for borough residents to harbor on their property.
Adamczyk said that he listened to the tape of the borough council
meeting during which the new ordinance was approved, and there appeared to be confusion by some members of council regarding what they voted for.
Two bands recently came together to hold a benefit concert for a pair of worthy charities in the Punxsutawney area.
Ridin’ Shotgun and 4 Way held the concert at the Rossiter Legion Post 582, and Post 582 matched the $500 made at the concert for a total donation of $1,000 to the First Church of God Food Pantry.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — At last week’s Borough Council meeting, its members changed course on a proposal by Drinda Smith to place a memorial bench in Barclay Square and instead authorized Smith to proceed with having one placed in Patsy’s Park.
The bench was requested by Drinda Smith in memory of Joel Riggleman, Dylan Behrendt and Sean McConnaughey and was approved.
Toby Santik, council member, said he had communicated council's decision to Smith via test message that it would not allow the bench to be in Barclay Square but would allow it in Patsy's Park.
YOUNG TOWNSHIP — Indiana County Coroner Michael Baker said two people perished in a mobile home fire late Friday night in Young Township.
The victims have been identified as 9-year-old Michael Jerome Collier, who lived at the home where the fire occurred, and 50-year-old Vickie Milliron of Claridge, who was visiting at the residence.
Baker said two other persons were injured in the fire and transported by emergency helicopter to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Baker had no information on their conditions.
