Big Run VFW Post 9044 and the Ladies Auxiliary announced the winners of the Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contests at their Pearl Harbor Day commemoration on Saturday.

It was a fun and eventful morning for many local youngsters who attended Punxsy Phil's Holiday Bash, held at Gobblerâ€™s Knob. The event was held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday for children 12 and under and their parents.
A free lunch was provided for everyone, and children were able to make tons of crafts, play games and show off their cookie-decorating skills.
Children also were able to write a letter to Santa, with members of the Groundhog Club Inner Circle making sure those letters reach Santa.
Some children also made cards for elderly members in the community.

The Fire Department
It is of vital interest to the people of this town that our fire department be kept up to the highest possible standard of efficiency. A successor to the late chief of the company, W C. Torrence, who resigned
CLEARFIELD â€” advises drivers that Interstate 80 westbound near Clearfield now has both lanes reopened as of 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
The roadway was closed earlier today due to a crash between mile-marker 120 at the Clearfield interchange to mile-marker 111 at the Penfield interchange.
The detour that was in place during the closure has been lifted. The roadway reopened about three hours ahead of schedule.
PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution as they travel today and give themselves extra travel time.
