HARRISBURG â€“ House Speaker Sam Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana/Armstrong) issued the following statement after learning today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved disaster aid for several counties, including Jefferson, impacted by the June 27 flood.
The federal funds will provide reimbursement to local, state and county agencies for costs associated with response and recovery efforts that are continuing after the flood.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The marker that pays tribute to the donated "Indian Mill Stone " in Barclay Square was recently placed in the ground near the stone.
S. Thomas Curry, member of the Punxsutawney Area Historical Society, unveiled the stone marker that pays tribute to the Timblin family, who had the mill stone originally, before it was placed in Barclay Square.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club announced Wednesday that an educational and informational trail will be the newest addition to come to Gobblerâ€™s Knob. The club received a matching grant from the Jefferson County Hotel Tax Committee to help assist with this project.
This is a project to help promote Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day and to increase the amount of time spent in our community by visitors, the club said. Those visitors will be able to learn about our townâ€™s fascinating history, as well as see a famous landmark at Gobblerâ€™s Knob.
