PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Punxsutawney Area High School Class of 1962 will celebrate its 50th anniversary this weekend â a reunion that will include a tour of the high school building.
Members of the Class of 1962 reunion committee shared their memories Wednesday as they looked forward to this nostalgic weekend.
For those students, it all began in the Jefferson Street School building, where the class of 1962 attended classes up until the 1959/1960 school year when grades 10-12 moved into the new Punxsutawney High School located up on the hill on North Findley Street.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â After a long-standing tradition of holding its main fundraiser during Old Home Week, the Punxsutawney Beta Sorority is taking a new angle to its fundraiser â traditionally known as the salad luncheon â this year.
BROOKVILLE â The trial dates have been set for a Reynoldsville woman charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide and other charges in Common Pleas Court in Brookville.
The dates for the trial for Judy L. Sprankle, Reynoldsville, have been scheduled for Sept. 17 and Sept. 18 at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Brookville, with jury selection scheduled for next Monday, according to Chad Weaver, Jefferson County Court Administrator.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â Students look forward to many specific days during their student careers â the last day of school before summer vacation, the first day of deer hunting season, the first day of school each new year and, now, computer distribution day.
Students in grades 9-12 all have their own laptop computers through the 21st Century Learning Initiative at Punxsutawney Area High School (PAHS).
The program has been quite successful since the implementation of One to One Computing, said PAHS Principal Dave London.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, and along with the regular activities of hanging out, watching college football and enjoying the company of others, this yearâs attendees can expect some extra fun with a pair of bands â Pure Cane Sugar and Lucky You â set to perform.

If you've been following the PennDOT bridge construction schedule for 2013, two areas of town will have major bridge reconstruction work done next summer complete with detours, according to Ben White, Punxsutawney Borough manager, who spoke at Tuesday's Public Works Committee meeting.
