BROOKVILLE — In a very close yet stunning race, a Brookville area challenger collected more votes in Jefferson County for the 66th District seat in the state House of Representatives than did the incumbent who has held the post since 1986.
Unofficial results from Tuesday night show that Cris Dush collected 2,402 votes (47 percent) over Sam Smith’s 2,295 votes (45 percent). A second challenger for Smith, Dr. James M. Brown, collected 428 votes (eight percent).
PUNXSUTAWNEY — This week, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office and Jefferson County Victim Services saluted Punxsutawney Borough Police for its hard work and effort in working with the Victims’ Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP).

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Monday, Punxsutawney Area Hospital received a generous donation in the form of 12 brand-new television sets, six of which will be placed in the hospital’s short procedure unit.
Five of the TVs will go in the intensive care unit, and a 37-inch big-screen TV will be placed in the front lobby.
The televisions were donated by the John Jacob Fisher American Legion Post 62.
The idea for the televisions came from Cathy Bair, who was in short procedure for the second time when she thought that it would be nice if there had been some TVs in the room.
