PUNXSUTAWNEY — When it comes to the small town of Punxsutawney, one thing is for certain: It is a town where many do their best to lend a helping hand.
As the holiday season nears, we see the Make-A-Wish organization preparing to make the wishes of local children come true. We have the Toys for Tots program providing gifts for local children.
And now, the town has added another special something to its Christmas spirit — one for the elderly residents of Punxsy.
This year, for the first time, the Groundhog Club will be having a Holiday Elderly Care Gift Basket Drive.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — While the school term is winding down toward break, the IUP-Punxsy campus held its annual Toys for Tots Dinner event Thursday night to celebrate its season of giving.
The event was open to the public as well as students.
The cost was $7 per person, plus attendees were to bring an unwrapped toy.
IUP Dining was in charge of the dinner and prepared a delicious meal of prime rib with shrimp, potatoes and green beans. Dessert and beverages were also served.
