PUNXSUTAWNEY — On Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, the Australian group "Little River Band" will be performing on the stage of the Punxsutawney Area Community Center, located at 220 North Jefferson St.
This concert is part of the band's scheduled 2012 tour and will include several of its most popular recordings, including "It's a Long Way There," "Help Is on the Way," "Happy Anniversary," Reminiscing," "Lady," "Lonesome Loser," "Cool Change," "The Night Owls" and "Take It Easy on Me."
During its career, the band has sold more than 25 million records and has scored 13 American Top 40 hits.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Femco is hosting a 'Gingerbread Open House Party' on Saturday, Nov. 24, from noon to 2 p.m.
This will be a joint effort between Femco, Community Action and Kiwanis.
Femco is encouraging people to drop off new and unwrapped toys for Toys
for Tots while they're out and about getting ready for the other holiday festivities that day (parade, etc.).
One age group which is often overlooked in Toys for Tots donations are babies.
There will be free food and refreshments provided.
Friday marked the grand opening of Punxsutawney's newest store, Girl Friends.
The store is operated by friends Joyce Gunderson and Jennifer Frederick.
Both are wholesale reps who have been in the clothing business their whole lives. Their pink/white/black-themed store is filled with designer clothes, purses and jewelry.
"I was wandering through this town one day and just fell in love with it," said Gunderson.
The friends celebrated their grand opening with other friends and customers.
