October 25th
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Improvements to Jack F. Lamarca Stadium are still years in the future, as the Punxsutawney Area School Board discussed aluminum bleachers and a storage building that would be constructed adjacent to the stadium grounds at Wednesday's athletic committee meeting.

HARRISBURG — Recently, PennDOT announced that its driver licensing centers, normally closed on Mondays, would be open on Monday, Nov. 5, the day before Election Day, to serve customers with last-minute Voter ID needs.
Oct. 15, the department along with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the union representing its driver licensing center employees, announced that those centers will remain closed on that day.
SUMMERVILLE — Two Saint Marys residents and one Eldred resident were killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday on Route 28 east of Johns Hill Road in Clover Township, according to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police.
One other person, also from Saint Marys, was injured in the wreck.
The crash occurred as the vehicle, a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was traveling south on Route 28 in Clover Township.
The unit was ascending an uphill grade when, for unknown reasons, it traveled into the oncoming northbound lane and then off the east berm.

FAIRVIEW — Are you ready for some winter? Not really? As always, PennDOT District 10.0 Maintenance Department has your back, as it held its annual inspection Wednesday morning.
All of the snow plows, salt and anti-skid are ready to go in case Old Man Winter returns with a vengeance following last season's balmy winter conditions, said Josh Clinger, the new Jefferson County maintenance manager, during PennDOT's annual inspection of the winter snow removal equipment that was held Wednesday at the Jefferson County Maintenance Garage in Fairview.
October 23rd
BROOKVILLE — Local firefighters responded to a blaze that broke out at about 10 a.m. Tuesday at Plyler's At Your Service Garage in Brookville.
Located at 9 Race St., the garage was a total loss by the time the flames subsided.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire had yet to be determined at Spirit press time, but Fire Chief Jim Lipuma indicated that it was currently believed to have been accidental.
There was one injury reported in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Route 119 and Route 310 in Punxsutawney.
According to Punxsutawney Borough Police, a 1988 Plymouth driven by Brandi Brady, 31, Punxsutawney, was traveling north on Route 119 and turned into the path of a 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by Crist Troyer Jr., 57, Marion Center, who was traveling south.
Troyer struck Brady's vehicle, spinning it completely around. Brady was taken by Jefferson County EMS to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
