REYNOLDSVILLE — Forty-one years of volunteering were acknowledged as more than just free help at the Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteer recognition luncheon held Wednesday at The Foundry in Reynolsville, as a Punxsutawney woman was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year.

"As we gather today to celebrate 41 years of building friendships and communities, I commend each and every one of you for your volunteer efforts and for making our community a better place to live," said Janeen Love, director of the Community Action Inc. Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteers.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The reports are grim, as deadly attacks continue on American troops serving in Afghanistan.

Nearly every day, the death toll mounts; more than 2,000 military personnel have already lost their lives, an average of one fatality per day.

Providing support while training the Afghan natives to take over security so that the armies from the United States and other countries can withdraw over the next two years is proving to be a dangerous and costly mission.

Due to weather conditions school has been cancelled for the Punxsutawney Area School District and SS.C.D.
