PUNXSUTAWNEY – Some people groan about hitting the big 4-0, but Kevin Aul has scratched and clawed for 32 years of his life to hit it.
Aul – relaying with the Grace Gigglers of Grace United Methodist Church — was among those taking part in Punxsy's Relay for Life Saturday in Barclay Square.
The Relay for Life committee recognized Aul's 40th birthday with a park-wide sing-along of “Happy Birthday” and saluted him for his battle against cancer – which he has been waging for most of his life.

This year’s Jefferson County Fair Queen is Logan Taylor Snell (left), 19, of Brookville. Logan sang the country song "Leave the Pieces" while also playing guitar. She is joined by Danielle Jean Troutman, who took second place in the pageant.

Punxsutawney’s 10-& 11-year old baseball All-Stars pose with the District 10 banner after winning the District title with a 12-2 win in four innings over St. Marys Thursday night in Punxsutawney.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Plans for the construction of a new ATA terminal continue to proceed as the successful low bidders have received notice to proceed with the project.
Monday, Punxsutawney Borough Council President Susan Glessner said the contractors are about to receive the notice to proceed.
After the contractors receive the notice to proceed, they have 10 days to begin construction, Glessner said.
She added that this might be the light at the end of a very long tunnel.

Construction workers from Power Contracting and Jefferson Paving work on the $1.1 million PennDOT downtown traffic signal project Wednesday at the Jefferson Street/Mahoning Street intersection. Construction was halted for the last two weeks to accommodate Old Home Week and the Groundhog Festival. BROOKVILLE — Although this is the first time in nine years that Pennsylvania lawmakers have passed a state budget on time, there are still a lot of questions left to be answered.
During Wednesday’s Jefferson County Commission meeting, the commissioners could not relay information about final budget figures because they themselves have little to no information.
Chairman Paul Corbin called it a game in progress.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Now that the festival season has concluded in Punxsutawney for another year, it’s time for borough residents and motorists to prepare for the return of construction season.
Police Chief Tom Fedigan said at Monday’s Punxsutawney Borough Council meeting that motorists should prepare themselves for significant delays beginning today.
Contractor Power Contracting will shut down the intersection of Jefferson Street and Mahoning Street today, Fedigan said, and there will be delays in the downtown area, along with parking restrictions and tagged meters.
