County jail scores 100 percent on inspection

BROOKVILLE — During a Jefferson County Jail Inspection-Intermediate Punishment Board meeting Monday, county Commission Chairman Paul Corbin congratulated the jail staff and Warden Tom Elbel on the results of the jail’s bi-annual inspection.

For the third consecutive time, the Jefferson County jail scored 100 percent on its inspection, which took place June 6.

The State Depart-ment of Corr-ections performs the inspection.
To achieve the perfect rating, the jail had to spend some money on routine maintenance items, such as painting.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Girls just want to have fun, and that’s exactly what Mercy Smith of Punxsy did Wednesday at her home during a baby shower for her baby doll, Cinderella.

The Punxsutawney Aglow International group supported Mercy in her request to have a baby shower for her doll by inviting members of the group and their grandchildren.

Aglow International is a group of women, teens, youth and men who meet once a month for worship and monthly speakers. The group focuses on different outreaches such as providing gifts to children on Christmas.

Tuesday, May 21, is Election Day. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
