Regional PEER day honors seniors

BROOKVILLE — Pennsylvania's Empowered Expert Residents (PEERs) are honored annually at a statewide event in Harrisburg for their efforts in advocating for their own quality of life in long-term living facilities.
However, because of the travel distance, PEERs from the northwest region of the state convened at the Heritage House Thursday.

Veteran's park vandalized in Big Run

BIG RUN — Police are looking for information regarding vandalism that occurred over the weekend at Veteran's Memorial Park in Big Run.

According to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police, sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 5:20 p.m. Saturday, someone spray painted graffiti on the playground; removed one of the electrical outlet covers from the pavilion; and damaged a picnic table by removing a wooden plank and breaking it into pieces.

Damage to the park is estimated at $200, with the electrical outlet valued at $10.
