PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” The Punxsutawney Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 11th induction banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the Punxsutawney High School Cafeteria.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be Les Shoop.
Shoop is the former basketball coach at Punxsutawney with a record of 198-96. His record includes five District IX Class AAAA Championships.
He coached his last Dapper Dan Round Ball classic at the Civic Arena.
BROOKVILLE â€” The Jefferson County Commission recently received word that it will likely not be responsible for debt in excess of $1.5 million.
Elk County has agreed to purchase a Ridgway building that Jefferson County was partly responsible for. Elk County plans to use the facility as its 911 headquarters, and the purchase will eliminate Jefferson Countyâ€™s liability for a bond issued to purchase that building.
BIG RUN â€” Police are releasing further details about a Wednesday incident in which a home was damaged along Main Street in Big Run.
Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police said the incident occurred at 9:03 a.m. along East Main Street.
Police said William G. Dixon, 59, Indiana, was negotiating a left curve in the road traveling north when his 1999 Western Star tri-axle truck traveled off the right side of the road, striking a PennDOT sign.
