New wildlife conservation officer fulfilling life-long dream

November 29, 2011

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Just as western Pennsylvania has been inundated with deer hunters this week, it’s the job of Jefferson County’s new Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) to protect the lives of deer hunters and make sure they follow rules when it comes to the two-week rifle season.

“This is my dream job, the best job in the world,” said Andy Troutman, of Summerville, the new WCO for the southern portion of Jefferson County.

No gifts, please: Local girl asked guests to donate to Toys for Tots

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Taegan Ludwig had all the traditional birthday party favors: Cake, multiple guests, a DJ and gifts.

There was one big difference though: The gifts weren’t for Taegan.
For Taegan’s 10th birthday party, held Nov. 19, she asked her 40-some guests that instead of giving her gifts, they donate the gifts they had brought to Toys for Tots.

She said she felt “greedy” receiving all the gifts from the people who were invited.

“Instead of receiving gifts for myself, I decided to give gifts to others,” she said.
