BROOKVILLE â In a continuance hearing Wednesday, the prosecution and the defense in the case of the Commonwealth vs. Steven Patrick Rebert were on opposite sides on which set of laws should be used regarding a June 2010 traffic stop during which he was arrested by law enforcement in his native state of New York.
The issue, pertaining to items taken from Rebertâs pockets during the stop and his statements to police: Should the court look at those issues in accordance to Pennsylvania or New York state laws?
Each year, five women are chosen by the Punxsutawney Career Womenâs Club for Career Womenâs Week. The criteria used for choosing these women are based not only on their professional efforts, but also on the contributions they have made to community and family.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â During their fall banquet Wednesday at the Eagles Club, county Democrats said theyâre starting from the ground up in order to raise their candidates to higher levels of government.
âWe need to start supporting our local candidates,â such as those running for council, mayor, school board or township board of supervisors, said county party Chairman Dennis Peck. âThis is where our part has to start.
âWe need to fill those seats with Democrats,â he said. âThatâs our goal.â
