Sparring continues over Just For Jesus

BROCKWAY — Another dust-up between Jack Wisor, founder and director of the Just For Jesus Homeless Outreach Challenge, and state Sen. Joe Scarnati could be developing.

Scarnati said in a press release Tuesday that Wisor deliberately disobeyed a newly-enacted law, Act 95 of 2010, which states that a group home — such as Just For Jesus — that takes on a convicted murderer must notify the county and municipal governments within 48 hours of the murderer’s arrival.

Punxsy grad Dominick seeks to begin shooting first budgeted film

PUNXSUTAWNEY — With the help of his hometown, a local college student may soon take his first footsteps toward the edge of Hollywood’s red carpet.

Punxsy native Charlie Dominick, a 2010 PAHS graduate and current Point Park University freshman, received the school’s Artistic Achievement Award scholarship for his independent production, “Dipper,” and is in the process of collecting funds for his upcoming film project.

“I’m very excited about it,” he said. “I probably haven’t been this motivated about anything before.”

WPSU-TV plans a return to ‘Our Town’

PUNXSUTAWNEY — WPSU-TV is looking to revisit Punxsutawney for its popular “Our Town” series, according to the Punxsutawney Area Chamber of Commerce.

The “Our Town” series by Penn State Public Broadcasting filmed a program about Punxsy several years ago, but Marlene Lellock, Chamber executive director, said that Chamber board member TJ Sliwinski, a Reynoldsville resident, learned that WPSU-TV was filming an “Our Town” about Reynoldsville this past summer.
