PUNXSUTAWNEY — A day after a vicious fire gutted the restaurant that has been in his family for generations, New Anchor Inn owner Dave Setree said he and his family are taking each day one at a time.
“I’m open to anything,” he said Monday when asked about the possibility of reopening the restaurant. “I feel that God has a plan, and He’s kind of giving me a clean slate to just wait and see what path to take in my life.”
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Monday, Punxsutawney Borough Council approved and voted to place on display its preliminary 2011 budget with no tax increase.
Council President Susan Glessner said that council did agree to shift 0.15 mills from the recreation department’s budget to the library budget to make up for a shortfall in funding from the state.
She praised department heads and borough employees for their budgeting so they can continue borough services without increasing taxes.
Each year, five women are chosen by the Punxsutawney Career Women’s Club for Career Women’s Week, which this year runs through Nov. 13. The criteria used for choosing these women are based not only on their professional efforts, but also on the contributions they have made to community and family.
