PUNXSUTAWNEY â Former Punxsutawney Borough Police Officer Sean Weaver was turned down Friday for a hearing by the Punxsutawney Civil Service Commission in a continued attempt to get his job back.
Commission Solicitor Jeff Lundy, who was not available for Mondayâs meeting, filed his opinion on two issues: As to whether Weaver would be granted a hearing by the commission, and a request by Timothy Morris, Punxsutawney Borough Council solicitor, regarding the candidate eligibility list.
PUNXSUTAWNEY âThe Punxsutawney Area Community Center will host its second-annual Raffle Night tonight.
From 6 to 9 p.m., at the Pantall Hotelâs Rooftop, ticket holders are invited to join the festivities as the center raffles away an array of awards.
Guests will be entered into the drawings of numerous winnings, including a 42-inch HD TV; bedroom suite; sofa and chair set; vacuum cleaner; and several cash prizes, said Mick Mumau, president of the centerâs Board of Directors.
Tickets may be purchased at the door tonight.
